All the best looks from #BritAwards

Writer: Mpho RantaoMpho Rantao

Last night London was the host of the 2019 edition of the Brit Awards, an event aimed to celebrate the achievements of artists not just from the United Kingdom, but also from the international music scene.

Artists like Dua Lipa, P!nk, Little Mix and the 1975 all performed their best hits on stage - sharing the stage with some of the night's biggest stars. Actor Hugh Jackman opened the awards ceremony with a stellar performance of his theme 'The Greatest Show' from the hit musical 'The Greatest Showman'.

Some of the UK's biggest stars showed on the red carpet, wearing daring outfits that either set people's tongues wagging or made people want to cringe. Some of those looks included nominees Years & Years' frontman Olly Alexander stunning everyone in a all-white swan ensemble, while pop group winners Little Mix turned heads in their individual gowns.

'FRIENDS' hit-maker Anne-Marie donned white with a pop colour through a Tomo Koizumi ruffled coat, and Brit Award nominee Dua Lipa missed the mark with her plum and lace sheer attempted drop-waist gown. R&B singer H.E.R rocked the red carpet in a gold suit with her signature sunglasses, before hitting the stage with British pop singer Jess Glynne for their song 'Thursday'.

The men who managed to steal the show included Scottish producer Calvin Harris who wore a brown suit, US pop singer Shawn Mendes looked dashing in a grey suit (and also looked to be dazzled by singer Lizzo's beauty - check out the video at the end), while British Premier League footballers Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andre Gray were fashion forward in their looks while accompanying their dates Perrie Edwards and Leigh Pinnock respectively.

The biggest take aways from the awards included indie-pop band the 1975 walking away with two Brit awards for British Album of the Year and Best British Group. The group then hit the stage to perform their single 'Sincerity is Scary' with lead singer Matt Healy looking cute in a suit with a white floppy-ear beanie.

Little Mix performed their hit single 'Woman Like Me' in co-ordinating pink latex looks featuring guest rapper Ms Banks, before heading back on stage to collect their award for Best Video for the same single.

Producer Calvin Harris walked away with the Best Producer Award and Best Single for 'One Kiss' featuring Dua Lipa, before hitting the stage with Lipa and Sam Smith. Ariana Grande and Drake won the awards for best International Female and Male Solo Artists, while George Ezra and Jorja Smith won for Best British Male and Female Solo Artist.

The Carters won the award for Best International Group, and although they were not able to make it to the award ceremony, they posted a video on Instagram of their acceptance speech, standing in front of a mural of the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, displaying their support for the expectant mother who has been under scrutiny in the news.

My best dressed for the night has to be between pop group Little Mix, Sam Smith in a sky blue suit and Jorja Smith's performance look of a white sequined and feathered gown - Jorja Smth's red carpet's look left much to be desired.

US pop singer P!nk made a moving performance to end the awards ceremony which featured Bastille frontman Dan after accepting her award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

The awards were quite an interesting show to watch, and apart from the award's host Jack Whitehall's cringy moments, this year's awards could be considered as one of the Brit's best.

Here's the video of Shawn Mendes gazing at Lizzo (I absolutely love this video):

-Love, light and blessings xx
