The Sands of Time

Writer: Mpho RantaoMpho Rantao

Hello everyone! Today's poetry post is a poem that I wrote in honour of two my dearest loved ones, whom I lost during the month of March (but in different years).

I hope that when you read this poem, it will remind you of your loved ones that you may have lost, and reignite that love that you had for that person. Remember, they never die and fade away - their memories live on.

Please read the poem, and feel free to share any comments that you may have.

The sands of time began to fall the day you were born

You were adored by all

You protected by all, and oh,

how your parents and siblings fawned over you.

The sands of time began to fall

the first day your child was born

then followed their siblings, who were everything and so much more

You were mothers not just to them, but to us all

You became the definition of joy

when you walked through the door

The sands of time began to fall the day you found your love

The man who made you smile

The love that always stood by you

hand in hand - showered in gifts and so much more

The sands of time began to fall the day you fell ill

As you braved your battle & overcame it

Smiling through the pain

Your illness was fierce, but no match for your strength

The sands of time fell as you laughed,

as you cried, as you loved.

The sands of time reached their end

when you fell into an eternal slumber.

The sands went still when you joined the angels.
